Needle felt a tiny teddy bear

I bought a needle felting kit at Ebay last year. There are 10 colors of wool, a couple of special needles and a foam-rubber-like cushion in my kit, and it was actually cheaper to get it from the US than trying to find it here in Sweden for that money!

I’ve made a tiny heart and a flower while practicing this technique, but this teddy (that I made last month) is the first real item I’ve felted. I wanted to make something really tiny and I think I’ve stretched out within my limits with this one. He is very tiny and still has details like arms, ears, a pink nose – and a tiny bed with a blanket of his own!

I gave him to my mom on Christmas Eve 2007, because she collects teddy bears in all sizes. Though this one is the smallest in her collection now.

Inspiration for making tiny softies you can find at My little Mochi which is Myra’s blog. She makes the cutest things ever and her makings always inspire me. She was the one who inspired the story telling about my tiny elephant softie that so many of you enjoyed. Myra tells great stories too!

Even his bed and his little blanket is tiny tiny! :-)

  1. Oh he is sooooooo cute Hanna!!! And how sweet that you gave him to your Mom for Christmas. :) I’ve made a couple of needlefelted bears myself, so I know all too well how time consuming they are to make….and how painful they can be to make as well. I stabbed myself more than once with one of those barbed needles. Ouch! Hope you’re needlefelting experience was pain free. :D

  2. Oh . . . so adorable, it made me forget to breathe for a minute! I cannot imagine the dexterity needed to needle felt something that tiny. I would have perforated myself for sure.

  3. Hanna, he is absolutely adorable! Because you know I love anything small enough to use a matchbox for a bed.

    More please!!

(PS. Thanks for the sweet words too! :) )

  5. ADORABLE! Love the little bed and quilt, too! My daughter has been making ‘Cute’ softies, too…I highlighted them on my blog in my last couple of posts!

  6. Wow, he’s so cute and so tiny. I just got the stuff to try to make these… Is it hard? I’ve seen some really cute ones on the internet. I hope I do as well as you!
