Knitting itch
I visited the yarn shop Gunga Din for the first time when shopping in Stockholm after Christmas. A small shop with lots of great colors of wool.
I bought six different beautiful bright colors of their 2-threaded wool (pink, yellow, green, dark green, black and beige) for our knit-a-long-sock knitalong starting on the 15:th of January (soon)! My coo-host Valentina [of no longer in use memoija.com] has started a great site for this [at knit-a-long-sock.blogspot.com no longer available], and if you would like to join, just give me your e-mail and I’ll invite you to join that blog.
These are my wool’s colors – still in the bag.
My mother is knitting in the background, I’m using her equipment for my new yarn, to make it into balls instead of how they came. I don’t know what it’s called in English?
I’m so looking forward to starting knitting them, but now that I’ve bought all this wool, I’m not sure if it’s a good material for long socks? Will it itch? Maybe it’s not soft enough for long socks?
Should I save these and try to get a softer wool material? Please give me advice! What would you do? I really like these colors, and they were quite expensive as well… What to do?
Note: Yes, I did spell wool “whool” in this entire post. Sorry for not checking how to spell something as easy as that.

I think you should do a non-itchy wool or wear tights underneath.
The “equipment” is called a swift. Your pictures are really nice. : )
I love your yarn! Why do you think the yarn might be too itchy? Does it feel itchy? Why don’t you make small swatch, wash that and see how that feels on your legs?
Hey, we need to talk!
If you really want to use the yarn (I think it will look great!) do a small swatch and keep it pinned to your trouseres so it’s next to your skin for a while. If it starts itching, get a new yarn, and save that for something else. If it doesn’t itch, go right ahead!
Godd luck! :)
Your colors are so pretty!! I think my yarn for the long socks is going to be itchy too, so I’m planning tights underneath.
Can’t wait for socks!!
