Permission to Rest

I read an article over at Creativity Portal about permission to rest in our creative work.

It is such a nice thing, to rest. Take a break. Walk away. Think of something else. Take a walk for a while. We all need that permission sometimes. Here is an extract from the article:

I now understand more fully that rest, in and of itself, is a huge part of the creative process. It might look like I’m doing nothing during the times when I’m resting, but those are the times when creative thoughts and passions come to brilliant fruition in my soul.

The collage, the altered book, the essay, might be “just sitting there” on my work table, seemingly abandoned, but as I take time away from each creative project, I give it space to breathe and to make room for more of what it’s meant to be.

I need that, so I’m doing it. Taking a break from crafting. Time for inner reflection.

  1. Have a good rest! This box is just SO pretty! I understand it’s justa button box, but I think it would look fabulous on the wall, as a shadow box! :)

  2. I like your blog! Lovely buttons. I’ve always been mad about hard cover note books. Your art work is wonderful too.
