Don’t waste one minute of this life

Hyacinths in December

Hyacinth is a bulbous flower that smells lovely…

In this house they bloom in December (because that’s when we take them out into the warm house) and to me they are all about Christmas Feelings indeed.

I was listening to this song by Dolly over and over on the bus and it is so fitting I have to quote it right here and now:

Your life’s a wreck, your house is mess
And your wardrobe way outdated
All your plans just keep on falling through
Overweight and under paid, under appreciated
I’m no guru, but I’ll tell you
This I know is true

[..]

The day we’re born we start to die
Don’t waste one minute of this life
Get to livin’
Share your dreams and share your laughter
Make some points for the great hereafter

Chorus:
You better get to livin’, givin’
Don’t forget to throw in a little forgivin’
And lovin’ on the way
You better get to knowin’, showin’
A little bit more concerned about where you’re goin’
Just a word unto the wise
You better get to livin’

[Quote from the song Better get to livin’ by Dolly Parton

Even with the new tricot sweater that I made my wardrobe is outdated and my life is a mess. What about yours?

That darlin’ Dolly states
she is no Dalai Lama in the beginning of this song, but ain’t her country singing voice speaking the truth any-old-how (as she would have said)? It (life) should all be about generosity, love and living in the now! I think these few lines is just up my alley and Dolly’s life advice is what I believe in too. I couldn’t have said it better myself so I shan’t.

Can you smell them? Talk about a scent of the season that I love! Now all I need to do is paint them into my journal… For the Crusade of December of course. More smells tomorrow if you want some!? Until then, post a song that means something to you too, it’s LK Ludwig who is asking you to search some lyrics out, on Day of Sharing a Song… :-)

Oh, and please go win Exhibition 36: Mixed Media Demonstrations + Explorations by Susan Tuttle in her nice book giveaway contest and then donate it to me! Oups, there my generosity left again. Always thinking of me me me. Darn! But you know how it is: Everyone else is thinking about themselves, it’s only me thinking of me! ;-)

But just so you know that I’m thinking of you too…

…check out Chrysti’s 29 days of giving starting with her giving all of us a nice interview with Cate Coulacos Prato!

…and the December generosity at Shutter Sisters with their daily giveaway all through December!

…and if you like papers and art you need to read my new favorite blogger Roz Stendahl (found via Danny Gregory’s blog as she is in his new book!), and her post Paper: What Do Visual Journalers Want? part one and part two! Yummy! [was at rozwoundup.typepad.com before]

  1. Aren’t these lyrics stunning? They just ring, and I can identify! I don’t know about doing that livin and givin just because of the hereafter, but I do know that it keeps you grateful, alive, and alert!

Thank you for these great links, too. I am ready to start a gratitude journal. I have many years to make up for…

As usual, a blog post filled with nourishment!

  2. Hanna, I love Dolly, I love those lyrics, I love hyacinths ? and if you think that sweater is outdated, give it to me, I’ll wear it!

Thanks for the great post, enjoy your day,

  3. Hej Hanna!
    Cute Mushroomland!
I put a link up to those different cards by Lynn Gordon.
Some of them are about 52 things to do in New York,
Chicago and San Fransico . Remined me of the
things you posted to do in Stockholm.
    God Bless You and Yours!!!

  4. Hanna,
This made me smile. After watching the Dolly documentary on SVT earlier this year, I became a convert.

Just haven’t got to grips with flowers yet. See one of my potted plants went to that big Plantagen in the sky.
