Inspiration: Quirky favorite books
Have you seen that the awesome Orly Avinari has published her journal pages in a self published book called One Artist Journal? I’ve already ordered a copy, because I think this might be one of those must-haves. We will see. Once I have it I will get back to you with a review. I know I already savor the way she writes out questions and snippets of wisdom in her posts. If you wanna peek inside the book already, Teesha Moore has posted a few example of the pages.
Have a look, then make sure to order this book for summer reading!
I think self publishing rocks! I’ve even got a pinterest board named that! And if we do get some rainy days this summer I would love to expand my own list of self published books!
What it is by Lynda Barry
Another book that I really like is What It Is by Lynda Barry. Sister Diane wrote a great review of it this week, expressing my own feelings about how awesome this book is. It’s a favorite in my inspiration library. I adore the crazy, quirky and strange style of Lynda’s book!
It’s a drawn/written journal/biography/book about writing with lots of prompts, doodles and ideas + awesome details – a keeper in my library. As I think about it I understand I also need her other book made in the same way, called Picture This: The Near-sighted Monkey Book. It’s about why we forget that drawing is fun and how we can find that happiness through drawing again.
What book do you wanna read this summer?

I’ll be interested to read your review of One Artist Journal – could be tempted!
These books all look interesting, Hanna…I appreciate the suggestions. Orly’s book of her journal looks pretty amazing. I have such a bookshelf of books I should spend time with, and yet I’m already contemplating another Amazon order…I just can’t stop myself!
