365 Collages | Week 51 | Incredibly valuable & transformative
And now let us believe in a long year that is given to us, new, untouched, full of things that have never been, full of work that has never been done, full of tasks, claims, and demands; and let us see that we learn to take it without letting fall too much of what it has to bestow upon those who demand of it necessary, serious, and great things.
Rainer Maria Rilke
I finished 365 square art collages in 2018! Although I did this just three days before New Years Eve, so I didn’t have time to title, scan, edit and upload all of them before we entered into the new year. But it’s never too late to finish, and it’s never too late to start either (just as a reminder). You do not need the magic of January first to start on a year long project. You can do it at any time! Today, tomorrow or next season. For me, I’m finishing my year-long project in a few days, with the last installment of collages, into a new year. Who cares, it’s all good and done now.

Firstly today though, I want to wish all of you a happy new and very creative year.
I’m looking forward to this new year a lot. It didn’t happen before the end, but now in the beginning of a new year, I find myself looking forward to the months ahead, and all the new things I will be creating, making, doing, feeling, hearing, eating, seeing and loving. Yay!
I look forward to working more in notebooks and journals, doing more painting-like stuff and stitching more – all things that has been a bit on the back-burner in 2018, because of the 365 somethings in 2018 project. You might not realize it if you haven’t tried it, but it does take up a bulk of your time to do a huge project like this! It’s deeply satisfying, but for me, and Tammy who also finished her 365, it’s not something that you do two years in a row. And as Tammy wrote in her Daisy Yellow group on FB:
…while I have no doubt that we will each create MANY, many things in the year ahead it is not a project that we can do two years in a row! Whew! After all, breathing space between ginormous projects is a good thing!
If you are thinking of a 365 for a future year, we do love 💛 this concept because it is flexible, you can work in batches, and you have so much space to explore and take tangents. Creating within this framework is incredibly valuable… and transformative.

I am wondering what size paper you used for your base in making the collages? And what do you do with them, when you are done? Do you bind them into a book or make cards with them?
Hi Kate, thanks for asking. These art pieces will probably be offered for sale some time, but not right now. They are 13 x 13 centimeter (5.1 x 5.1 inches) made on vintage target practice papers that was already square when I found them! :-)

Congrats on Week 51! Compared to Nothing is my favorite this week. I like the way the stamp is outlined and additionally highlighted by the yellow lines. Thank you for sharing your wonderful creations with us!
