Introducing the blank Kikki.K 365 Journal

I have always doubted my ability to do anything daily, and it’s not because I have low self-esteem (which I often have) but because I know myself too well to even try it… That said, I also knew when this year started that I wanted a kick in the butt when it comes to painting and art journaling. With the 365 Collages of last year, my art journal practice had a really bad year with me not giving it much attention at all… So this year I want to play more often.

And since I had, without much of a plan, already bought a little journal with 365 pages, I thought to my self: Heck, why don’t I start playing in this little notebook? As I’ve stated before: A Creative Habit is the Artists Best Friend!

I ordered myself this cute little notebook last year, from a Swedish company in Australia called Kikki.K, after seeing some of their beautiful stationary – online of course…

My Kikki.K order arrives

Oh well, truth be told, I wanted about everything from their site, and with the notebook I picked out as a splurge, I just “happened” to get some polka dot cards, a polka dot pen as well as a paper pad with an H in gold on each page. SO pretty!

But back to the notebook. It has a white cover and shiny gold letters stating “365” on both spine and front cover. The gold trend has been strong for a couple of years, but I’m slow, so I am embracing it a bit later than everyone else…

The notebook is rather small, just a little bit bigger than A6 (the size I made my TN planner in). The edge of the pages are gilded, and on each page a big, light blue number is printed, from 001 to 365, so one page for each day of the year.

I’ve been posting about it on my instagram account from January, but now I’ve edited a video where I open the notebook and start on page one, with a little self portrait….

Let me show it to you

I filmed this in the beginning of January, but haven’t edited until now… This video is short and sweet, and I hope you like it.

So let’s get started!

If you can’t see the video above please click this link to see it on YouTube Video: Creating daily in a blank Kikki.K Journal? [PART 1] (and give it a comment and thumbs up when you’re there please).

I wanted to use my favorite color and do a quick “selfie” on the first page of this journal to brand it “mine”. I used colored pencils and a little bit of acrylic paint as background. Let me know if you have any questions about it, and if you liked the first page.

Details of this notebook, in case you were wondering:
Measurements: 4,7 x 5,9 inches (12 x 15 cm)
Gold fold foil detailing
Hardcover
Numbered 1 to 365
Plain pages

Kind of Daily, kind of not

I have been working in it “kind of daily” so far, missing a day here and there but quickly catching up by filling two pages in a row when that has happened. Oh, and already I think that I have painted more than all of last year. At least it feels that way. And it’s a lot of fun, having something that “forces me” to take out paints, pencils or crayons and do something creative each day. Plus I have something to post to instagram too. Yay! When I do it early in the day, it spills over to other activities too, so I should do that more often!

What is your best creative habit tips?

Wanna doodle along with me? You can start any day and go for as long as you like!

Here’s a link to a 365 Journal by Kikki.K in case you want to check it out. And here’s a similar one with a black cover. There’s also the kind with prompts, like 365 Days of Art: A Creative Exercise for Every Day of the Year for those that often feel more “blank” than creative. ;-)

I will be sharing more about my process in this journal shortly.

  1. It looks like you’re going to have lots of fun in your new notebook! Thanks for sharing your photos and video! Are you going to make something out of the fun wrapping/packaging, too? The drawn envelope packaging is so cute!

    • Thanks. Definitely saved the Kikki K tissue paper in my tissue paper box, for use in the future! Isn’t it magic when the packaging is as cute as the stuff you bought?! :-)
