Hahnemühle Watercolor Sketchbook + process video
For Christmas I got a fancy new sketchbook filled with watercolor paper. It is very much the kind of sketchbook / notebook / art journal that I like as a little luxury item beyond my own hand made books and altered books.
And in it was the kind of paper I love painting on. So let’s get started, shall we?
I made a video of me opening it up for the first time, and filling the very first page. I hope you like it, maybe you’ll be art journaling along with me?
The notebook is a Watercolor notebook, opening to the short side, with a dark gray cloth cover. The smooth watercolor paper inside has lovely rounded (yum!) corners and inviting white plains of possibilities…
It is my first encounter with this particular kind of watercolor book (previously I’ve had a Moleskine Album that has a similar size and feel to this one), and it was such a delight to hold in my hands, and to paint in.

Some watercolor, some pencil and in the end even some acrylic – a true mixed media piece. That’s the first page of this notebook documented and done.
So as you can tell I’m of to a good creative start this year. Let’s hope it continues like this, shall we… I hope you’ve set of on your creative year too? Painting, writing, singing, dancing, collaging, blogging or photographing perhaps? Now let’s keep the momentum going, with a small creative act – every day.
If you’re interested in getting this notebook for yourself it’s Hahnemuhle without the dots above u on Amazon: Hahnemuhle Watercolor Book in landscape size A5 (that’s 5.8 x 8.3 inches) with watercolor paper 200 gsm thick, although if landscape is not for you it’s also available in portrait orientation. Either way, it’s a well shaped, beautiful notebook that I am looking forward to keep working in this year.
